Dubbed the Loneliest Road in America, US Route 50 cuts through the heart of Nevada. Begin this journey at the state line near Lake Tahoe, and continue through Carson City, the biggest town you will go through on this 400-mile stretch of Route 50. After Carson City, you will drive through the low desert landscape, and over the high mountain passes, before ending near Great Basin National Park at the Nevada, Utah state line. The towns along the way are widely scattered, so make sure you keep gas in your tank, running out or breaking down on this trip is something you’ll want to avoid at all costs.
